Port Fairy Historical Society acknowledge the Eastern Maar people as the Traditional Owners of this land. We pay respects to their Elders, past and present, and the Aboriginal Elders of other communities who may be here today.
The Society works towards preserving the history and heritage of Port Fairy and District including the history and heritage of pioneering families, early industry, businesses, festivals, events and the built environment.
The Society was founded in 1963 and for over 50 years, the Society has worked with the local community and other organisations within Moyne Shire to preserve and promote our history and heritage. Our Society is affiliated with the Royal Historical Society of Victoria and the Western Victorian Association of Historical Societies.
The Port Fairy Museum and Archives is home to the Port Fairy Historical Society. The Society manages both the Historical Museum and the Archives of Port Fairy and District. The Museum is affiliated with the Australian Museums and Galleries Association and has been an accredited member since 1998.
